Stagecoach
Group plc ("Stagecoach" ) is pleased to announce that on 16 May 2008 it
completed the acquisition of Highland Country Buses Ltd and Orkney Coaches
Ltd from Rapsons Coaches Ltd.
The
business acquired, which operates bus and coach services in the Highlands,
Skye and Orkney, has an annual turnover of approximately £12.5 million,
employs around 400 people and runs a fleet of around 200 vehicles.
The purchase includes bus depots in Inverness, Aviemore, Fort William,
Portree, Thurso, Wick and Orkney, plus a number of outstations.
Robert Andrew, Regional Director, Stagecoach Scotland, said: "We are
delighted to have completed this acquisition, which will complement our
existing high-quality bus operations in the North of Scotland.
"We already have one of the youngest bus fleets in Scotland, with high
levels of customer satisfaction and a strong track-record of investment,
and we look forward to improving services to customers in the months
ahead.
"The newly-acquired services will be operated under the Stagecoach brand
and we would like to welcome our new employees to the company."

Sheffield Bus Museum will be moving next year.
Our final Open Day at our current home, the former Tinsley Tram Shed, will
be on Sunday 10th December. If you want to
see the tram shed for, probably, the last time, do
come along between 12 and 4 p.m.
In the New Year we will be moving all our vehicles and exhibits to a
temporary home at Aldwarke. We are currently saving up all our pennies in
the hope of being able to match grant aid to help us open a completely new
base, with a wider remit and probably a new name. The new base will be
designed to reflect the whole of South Yorkshire's transport heritage, not
just Sheffield's. Cheers, Neil Worthington - Webmaster, Sheffield Bus
Museum Trust.
The
Sheffield Bus Museum is situated on the A6178
Sheffield to Rotherham road, and is close to junction 34 of the M1
motorway. There are good bus links from Sheffield and Rotherham. The
Carbrook Supertram stop is approximately 200 yards from the
Museum entrance.
